Unemployment in the US

Call me political but the amount of people I see living off the government in the US is pathetic.
I can understand someone who is mentally incapable of working, but there are way too many people using "disability" as a scape goat for being lazy.
The ratio of people unemployed in the US is sad. According to the US Census Bureau, there are 35.9 million people in the US not working.
A recession is a real problem in the US right now, however there is no reason why people cant better themselves and gain self endurance. Claiming "back injury" for example is not a reason to not work. There are plenty of jobs that require you to sit, not stand. Free money in the US right now is supposed to be used for people who truly deserve it and who are truly incapable to work; people with mental disability which impair the mind to work correctly for instance is a LEGIT reason to collect SSI and SSD.
Because of the unemployment dilemma, there are actually 12.9 million children in the US living in poverty and this is a real problem! Children should not have to suffer b/c someone is lazy!
Here are some statistics to show the number of people depending on the government to live:
-In 2004, requests for emergency food assistance increased by an average of 14% during the year, this study also showed that on average 20 percent of requests for emergency food assistance have gone unmet.
-In May 2009 the US Census Bureau reported that 15.0 million people were unemployed and living off the government.
This is a real problem, lets do our part to stop being lazy!
