Dating Etiquette

Etiquette is a code of behavior that influences expectations for social behavior according to contemporary conventional norms within a society, social class, or group.

Dating Codes: Keep in mind that manners and etiquette are two different things, however they play a part with each other in the dating world.

The dating world can be tough. Its scary. I mean, how many of you can admit that you like letting down your guard? Not many. That's what I thought. The first rule in dating is to always keep your composure no matter what the situation. No man/woman wants a raving, animalistic, out of control male/female sitting in front of them. It's classless. If he or she is not your type, and usually we know after a few spoken words, simply thank  them for the invite. Politely, but assertively excuse yourself. This will show him/her, YOU are in control (ladies this is BIG for you) and it'll show some confidence. Respect. Respect is one of those words that gets taken out of context a lot. Respect is earned, it is not owed. Never go into any situation thinking you SHOULD get respect. Everyone has their own unique mindset and value system. Always show the person you are willing to respect them. Respect their values, you can still voice your opinion while showing respect. Respect the fact that they took the time out of their own busy schedule to take you out, spend money on you, and always say THANK YOU.
Discretion. I LOVE this word! Discretion is a code that must always be followed! No man wants to hear about your dreaded ex or your epic failed dating stories of men/women in your past. You'll make him/her feel they're not good enough for you. No one wants to think they are not good enough for anyone, it's an empty feeling. PUT YOUR CELLPHONES AWAY! This is a manner. It is rude and shows the person in front of you that they are not worthy of your time because you "may" have something more important happening at that moment. Paying attention and making eye contact is very important in any relationship, especially the first date. Attention to detail is the key in having good communication. Don't tell someone your entire life story starting from your birth date to the present moment. No one likes someone who babbles too much. This may be misconstrued as you being nervous. If you are, be discrete about it, make a little joke about it, but DON'T babble! Besides, a little mystery can be sexy! FLIRT! Look at the person with wanting eyes, but don't speak wanting words. This shows you are interested! If you didn't have the slightest bit of interest, you would not be sitting in front of them at that moment. Joke around. Joking is always considered flirting. It'll make the both of you smile, and who doesn't like charm? Never let your guard down too fast. This is the best way to ensure the relationship won't last. Coming on too strong in the beginning scares people away. It shows low self confidence and no one wants to think they'll be suffocated to death the first date.  Stay assertive while being pleasant. If its too easy, its not a wondering game anymore. Wondering makes you want more! Display your WORTH. Confidence is sexy as hell! You already have a vision and know what you want out of life and in a relationship. Express this, but don't give too much away at first. Don't boast about your successes or your achievements. You don't want to appear narcissistic.
HAVE FUN! That's what the dating world is all about; trying new things and enjoying the learning experience of it!
